Water treatment facilities generate large amounts of operational data, but much of it remains divided across control systems, spreadsheets, laboratory records, paper logs, and the experience of individual operators.
Belidor AI is developing an AI-powered operational intelligence platform to turn that fragmented information into evidence-based recommendations, alerts, reports, and coordinated work for plant teams. The company announced a $2.1 million seed funding round on December 3, 2023, led by Nexenai Capital and 49th Fund, with participation from Ribbit Capital and Cherry Ventures.
At the centre of the platform is Agent Zed, an AI process engineer designed to work with a facility's own readings, logs, and documents. Operators and managers can use it to investigate performance changes, ask questions about plant conditions, generate charts, analyse uploaded data, and schedule recurring monitoring or reporting jobs.
The platform is designed to provide answers grounded in the plant's own information rather than generic AI responses. Scheduled jobs can review recent data, identify abnormal conditions, check manually entered values, and deliver findings with supporting context and suggested next steps.
Belidor AI combines these AI capabilities with digital twins, historical plant audits, dashboards, calculated metrics, alerts, notifications, tasks, procedures, and data integrations. Its alerting tools are designed to go beyond basic high-low thresholds by identifying forecast crossings, unusual patterns, and missing data before those issues become more costly or disruptive.
The company's approach focuses on using infrastructure that treatment facilities already have. Belidor AI can ingest information from SCADA systems, historians, spreadsheets, manual rounds, and plant documents. Connections to plant control systems are read-only, so the software cannot change setpoints or issue operational commands.
This allows the platform to operate as a decision-support layer for wastewater, drinking water, industrial water, food and beverage, desalination, and water reuse facilities. Belidor AI is positioning the technology to help plant teams improve compliance, operating efficiency, uptime, and knowledge continuity without requiring a complete digital transformation before they can begin.
The seed round provides further backing for Belidor AI as it develops its platform, strengthens implementation capabilities, and expands its work across the water sector.
